Well, if you know me, you know that I start every morning with a smoothie! I love that time to get in a great serving of fruits and vegetables! I also make a REALLY large batch. I put my Sunday batch into plastic cups and straight to the freezer. Every morning around 6:30, I pull a smoothie out of the freezer and take it with me to school. Then around 8:00 I eat it at my desk! I never actually measure what I put in, but here are some approximates! :)
I start by putting everything into my Vitamix. Yes, they are expensive. But, yes, they are completely worth it. My Vitamix is over 15 years old and it won't die! I mean, secretly, I would like it to die because I would love more options than my old Vitamix has! But, no! It won't quit! And also, their customer service is wonderful! Here are the ingredients I use. Because I make a smoothie for the whole week, this recipe will make a large portion big enough to serve 5-6 smoothies. Start by blending these ingredients: 20 ounces of Almond Milk (any milk is fine) Big handful of spinach or kale 1/2 cup of Coconut oil 3 scoops of protein powder (My favorite is Dr. Mercola's Vanilla) 3-4 tablespoons of Agave or Honey (more or less depending on your taste) After the above ingredients are smooth, add the frozen fruit. I use: 2 Frozen Bananas 1/2 cup or so of Frozen Blueberries 1/2 cup or so of Frozen Strawberries Blend and enjoy! Start your morning off right! Now, don't stop following me after you read this! ;) But.... I don't like chocolate! I know, I know! It's crazy! But my family does! So sometimes after I get my smoothie scooped out, I will add a couple tablespoons of Cocoa Powder. My kids think they are drinking a chocolate milkshake! MOM WIN! A hot trend for summer right now is colorful sandals - beaded, embroidered, and bedazzled! I have been on the hunt for some cute ones too! Because this could be just a trend, I don't want to spend too much money on them. Check out some great finds below! 1. Kay Slide from Target - These great slides are under $28 and would go with so many things! The reviews seem to suggest to go up a size when ordering. 2. BP Zandra Sandal - This is a great shoe from Nordstrom with great reviews and is under $60! 3. Chinese Laundry Posh Sandal - These cuties come in at under $60 and ship free from Nordstrom! Don't like them once you get them, they also ship for free back to Nordstrom! 4. Hinge Polly Sandal - Well, these are my favorites! I own these and they go with EVERYTHING and are very comfortable! 5. Vince Camutto Balisa Sandal - Well, these are just beautiful! I love the way they tie around your ankle! 6. Sam Edelman Brita Sandal - These adorable sandals are only $28. I absolutely love Sam Edelman shoes! They are comfortable and always hold us so well!
With Mother's Day quickly approaching, I came up with a list of 9 great gifts that any mom would be sure to love! Here are a few of my favorite things!
1. Votivo Red Currant Candle - This candle is by far the best smelling candle! My mother-in-law bought me this awesome candle for Christmas one year, and I have been addicted ever since. 2. Good Earth Sweet & Spicy Tea - This tea is so delicious! I don't know how they do it, but you just blend the bag with hot water and it tastes sweet. There are no sweeteners whatsoever added. So you can enjoy this sweet drink with no guilt at all! 3. BP Scalloped Handbagapi.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=518120956&pid=uid5584-39301672-7 - Love this bag! It looks so much like a Kate Spade handbag but is a fraction of the cost! For $49 and free shipping, you could get a perfect bag for spring and summer! Plus, the inside is an adorable pink! 4. Doterra Diffuser - My sister recently started selling essential oils. I have come to rely on my diffuser in our bedroom and the kids' too! The smell of the lavender oil is seriously so relaxing! Contact my sister, Christa, http://mydoterra.com/christadhladhla for more help! 5. Burberry Aviator Sunglasses - Hands down, these are my favorite sunglasses! They are lightweight, comfortable, and go with every outfit! Normally $240. On sale for only $125! Splurge and treat your mom..... or yourself! 6. Instant Pot - I know, I know.... maybe kitchen gadgets don't sound like they would be a good gift for Mother's Day. But let me tell you why you would be wrong to think that. This thing is AMAZING! It can cook frozen meat in like 30 minutes! And that meat then falls apart in tender deliciousness!! You can also make soups, rice, and SO MUCH MORE! 7. Sam Edelman Yona Sandals - Sam Edelman is by far my favorite shoe designer! He creates beautiful and comfortable shoes! Love these! 8. Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume - when Briton and I went on our first cruise together, we stopped in the perfume shop to waist some time. I fell in love with this perfume. It is sweet and flowery. I get compliments every time I wear it. 9. Essie Nail Polish (Topless & Barefoot) - Oh my! The name is quite scandalous! But the color is a beautiful nude! Perfect for spring and summer! I loved the creative process of starting a blog! But after moving from my "Happy Yellow House" to a new home, I struggled to keep it going because I no longer lived in a yellow house! Silly, I know! But I stopped blogging because I could not come up with a good name! I also wanted to do a slightly different take on my new blog. I wanted to include something else I love - FASHION! So here it goes! I am launching this blog to include great and fabulous finds in the fashion world, delicious recipes, and great things for the home!
