Half Bath Welcome to our half bath (or if you want to be fancy, the powder room)! This room turned out to be one of my favorites!! We had this room painted Horizon Grey! I also love the new mirror we added! It is an old window from a ship that had a mirror added to it! Let's talk about my favorite shelves!! So simple that you can make them too!
Step 1: Go to Home Depot's plumbing department! Ask for (now this will sound dirty!!) some shafts! Ha! Is it bad that I just remember the name of the shafts!? But you will also need the (are you ready for the technical terms?) ends and pieces that attach to the wall! (All found in the plumbing department!) Other bloggers have spray painted the pipes black, but I did not and love the color of them. Was way easier not to spray paint too! Step 2: Cut pieces of wood the size you need. Step 3: Attach pipes to the wall and add your pieces of wood! That's it!! The fun artwork was purchased on Amazon! I love these! The toilet seat and toilet paper prints were just perfect for this room! I used some old frames I had and painted them a charcoal grey.

Welcome to the room where I spend most of my waking hours!! Oh, the kitchen!!! I must say, Brit and I lived in a small yellow house for the first 11 years of our marriage. And it had the tiniest kitchen with NO DISHWASHER!! So I was beyond thrilled to upgrade to a kitchen with a dishwasher! (It's the little things, right!?) The Kitchen So, as I mentioned in an earlier post, the cabinets in the kitchen were sprayed white. They were stained wood before that. We also replaced the hardware! What a big difference a little paint and new hardware can make! Last summer, we added the subway tile backsplash as well! The kitchen table chairs are some of my favorites! I purchased the round basket on the table from Home Goods, but here is a similar one. The simple bar stools were a great fit too. We chose the color Thunder by Benjamin Moore to paint the walls. I love this color so much! If you are looking for a great neutral, look no further! You may remember a Facebook post from a while ago, raving about my awesome new Farmer's Market sign. (Make sure to like Megan's page because she does awesome custom work!) We removed the cabinets on either side of the sink and added these fun open shelves! I love the look and the convenience. We purchased these brackets from Anthropologie and painted wood for on top. The lanterns were purchased at a garage sale years ago! Also, I love to put my dish and hand soap on a tray! I also love this vintage feeder basket to store fruit! My in-laws purchased this from an antique store! And if you have the opportunity to put a pot rack in your kitchen--do it!! It frees up so much space in your cabinets and is so convenient too!
Dining Room Welcome to the dining room! I know many people have opted to get rid of the dining room and turn it into something else! But since Brit and I both have all of our family in the area, I am so glad to have this room!! In this room, I used the same paint color as the living room and entryway (Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage). When we moved into our house, one of the things we did was switch out some lighting. This chandelier was a great purchase! It looks old, but has the convenience of being new! Have you ever ordered anything from Horchow? It is Neiman Marcus' discount store with great stuff for the house! I had parson's chairs in my dining room at our old house, but they had been used quite a bit and had a few stains. I purchased slipcovers similar to these, and it freshened them up! Plus I can take them off and wash them! The white wooden chairs were purchased at a Crate & Barrel Outlet when we first got married, but here are some similar chairs! The table was a gift from my in-laws, and I love it so much!!! Click here and here to see some similar tables! The burlap table runner was a DIY project I did several years ago, but I love it still so much!!! Was super easy too! I also love the antique chicken feeder on the table! I change what I put in it depending on the season! I picked up this AMAZING sign from Joyfully Said Signs at a local vintage market. If you haven't "liked" this page on Facebook yet, don't hesitate! These signs are absolutely gorgeous! This "grateful" sign was just what I was looking for in our dining room. I found the curved iron piece from Hobby Lobby. It is all scheduled to be hung this week!! The hydrangeas at my in-law's lake house bloomed! I love how they look in the blue Mason jars!! This buffet was purchased from a local store! We got it when we first got married! 13 years later, it still looks great! The lamps were purchased from Home Goods several years ago, but here are some similar ones. The mirror was purchased at a garage sale! I did not even have to antique it at all! The small boxwood wreath provides some greenery for the area! The two urns were also purchased at a garage sale. I also recently purchased the awesome wooden bowl from a vintage sale. I picked it up from a great shop, The Pair. Be sure to "like" their page on Facebook!
Hope this gives you some inspiration in your home! We are so blessed to be living in this home! We love it so much! We moved in a little less than two years ago and can't imagine any better place to live! Not only do we have wonderful neighbors, but we also absolutely love the actual house! While we did not do any major demolition to the house, we did paint in almost every room of the house - including all the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms! Join me on a tour of our home! While it is always a work in progress, this is what it looks like now! (Well, maybe not at this exact moment! Currently, there are two children who insisted on sleeping on the floor in the family room in their sleeping bags!! It's summer.... why not!?!) Family Room In our family room, we had the walls painted Restoration Hardware's color, Silver Sage. We also had the giant shelving unit redone and then attached to the wall. We filled it with old books from a barn sale! The fireplace we had sprayed white and then had a mirror put in to help reflect more light and make the room appear larger. My sweet sister-in-law, Courtney, gave me the great old window to put on the mantel! I also really love basket by the fireplace from Target. Here is a similar one! The couch is from Pottery Barn and was well worth the investment. Yes, it was expensive. But yes, it was totally worth it! The color of the couch is Silver Taupe. It is slipcovered, which is a feature I love with children! I got these blue pillows from a PB Outlet, but these are similar. The coffee table was purchase from Wayfair.com. I cannot say enough good things about this company! I found the table cheaper on another website, but they did not have free shipping. I called Wayfair and they not only matched the price with free shipping, but they let me use my 15% off coupon code! Super impressed with their customer service! I love these swivel and rocking chairs that we purchased from a local furniture store! Paired with these pillows they are so comfortable! I love the swivel because they are perfect for watching TV or turned the other way for having a conversation with someone sitting on the couch! Local lovelies, Karla and her husband from Unique Pieces built this table, and it is amazing!!! When I saw this big space above the couch, I had NO idea what I was going to put up there. I didn't want a piece of art. Brit really wanted a Bible verse in every room of the house. So I found a website (http://wordsanywhere.com/) that would create a verse that would be GIGANTIC for this big open space. I absolutely love how it turned out! This press on saying was the perfect touch!
With all the fabulous new followers on my Facebook page, I thought this would be a great opportunity for you to get to know me a little better!! Photo Credit: OrganicLite Photography 1. I am married to my high school sweetheart! Briton and I have been dating since his freshman year of high school and my sophomore year! (Yes, I suppose that makes me a bit of a cougar!) We had study hall together, and the rest is history! We have now been married for almost 13 years, have two beautiful kids, and I can't imagine spending life with anyone else!! 2. I have had two c-sections. Well, it's a long story.... but long story short, Henry was in distress when I was in labor, and I had to have an emergency c-section. My scar is vertical on my stomach because it was one minute faster to cut that way and get him out. When it came time to have Lucy, I actually enjoyed being able to schedule her grand entrance into the world! 3. I am a first grade teacher. Next year will mark the 13th year in my teaching career! That is so hard to believe. In those thirteen years, I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and fourth grade. Eleven of those years have been in first grade. Crazy fact - my first year, second year, and fifth year students will all be seniors in high school next year! 4. I play the piano. I began taking piano lessons in first grade and took them until I was a senior in high school! I don't play often anymore, but occasionally play in church! 5. I am the oldest of four. I am the oldest of the four siblings in my family! I have one sister and two brothers. I am blessed to be living close to my entire family. And doubly blessed for my kids to grow up with family all around us. 6. I come from a family of teachers. My mom and dad are both teachers! My mom teaches pre-kindergarten and my dad teaches high school science. My brother is also a teacher! Crazy! People have joked that we should start our own school. 7. The biggest challenge I faced when starting a blog was coming up with a great name. I could not for the life of me think of a name! I thought for months about what I would call it. Silly, I know! Since my last name is "Post", I finally came up with "Just Posted"! I am grateful to have you reading this and look forward to getting to know you all better!
